Slight issue with my laptop that is driving me mad but was too late to get it fixed under warranty.

Back in 2010 almost to the date I bought the above laptop from eBuyer, got it for a good price and does me for what I need - mainly take it with me when I go traveling as I use my computer when at home. All I have done is upgrade it from 3Gb to 8Gb ram.

Problem is the battery seems to go flat with no use.

I charged it up a few nights ago and just left it on the side and when I turned it on today it was at 87%. Now if I leave it for longer like I can do its totally dead. The HP utility shows the battery is ok, any recommendations as I hate having to charge it each time I want to use it.

Batteries do discharge over time, moreso if they are full. It will keep its charge longer if charged to 50%. I think you may just have to charge it before use as this is not unheard of behaviour from certain types of battery. You could also try keeping the battery disconnected which should isolate it from any leaks in the laptops power system and make it stay charged longer but it will always suffer this degredation, Its not NiCad after all.

Thanks for that, I will charge it and take it out and see what happens. I have managed to find a replacement on Amazon for £26 so might get that once I have tried things and if they don't improve.
