[sims] SIMS Error 1606-6832-6700 does anyone know what this means

Hi People

Just installing a new install of sims on a fresh copy of windows 7

keep getting this error when loading

dotnet 4 etc installed but im a little stumped this morning it is something simple that i have missed but can not for the life of me think what

This is appearing before the SIMS logon screen appears?

Is it a 32bit machine or 64?

The stack trace you posted doesnt include the error message so its kinda hard to suggest anything.

All upto date including dotnets i thought it might be the dotnets myself but uninstalled and reinstaleed to no avail

Error appears after the login box

Only other thing is Failed to compare two elements in the array. :System.InvalidOperationException is in red

Do you have a workstation where the Sims is working that you can copy the Sims.net folder from and overwrite the existing one to see if the installation has not become corrupted?

I came across this once before and found that by doing the above that all works well,

I take it from the stack trace that is exactly what has happened and that it cannot start up the mainform.

An InvalidOperationException thrown from System.Array.SorterObjectArray.SwapIfGreaterWithItems(Int32 a, Int32 b) most likely means that one of the values wasnt properly initialised (suspect inner NullReferenceException) or otherwise is a null value, ie the array of values contains a null suggesting that the data is corrupted (do any of your clients work??), a client/database version mismatch of some kind or a bug in the client or otherwise crappy error handling/checking (shock horror).

Check the SQL client version/updates on the client too, make sure you also have the latest framework updates.

All users are affected.

Copied the sims.net folder from working system and i still get the error

uninstalled it and even pushed it out via solus 3 same issue.

It must be the machine so i think a refresh should be done...but i will wait till capita give me a solution and post for future reference

It is the full .Net 4 extended you've used right?

There's not anything odd in the name of the PC is there, eg non alphanumeric characters? Try renaming the PC and see if that makes a difference?

yes fully up to date and full dot net frame work

capita were as much use as a chocolate fireguard

reinstalled windows again and all seems fine

strange problem though and capita dont know what the error codes indicate.

In those cases where it's a windows issue, i've found that sometimes it's to do with the WMI installation. There's another thread where that was the case, and there are some tools you can use to check and repair it, but normally this is due to some other install causing a corruption. I guess it could just be a random error. In either case it is still quicker to reinstall windows, especially when you know it works elsewhere.

I dont' suppose anyone ever came up with a better solution rather than re-installing windows by any chance?

If I have to I will but it seems a bit extreme to have to re-install the OS just to get bloody SIMS working!!

Try copying over SIMS folder from working machine, try repair WMI, try repair on Windows ...
