t_guest Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 hi all i have a dvd which needs to go onto my laptop i have tried some programs and they are all slow any one know any good software i could use for free which is fast to copy the dvd to the hard drive as its needed asap this is for home use not for school. any one got any :idea:

Callum, if you want to learn how to rip DVD's, this is not the place to be asking. This is a professional forum, dealing with education, not hacker school.

Copying free-to-air recordings made under your schools ERA licence is one. And one I'm doing a lot of! Media studies would be another area that this technique may be a valid tool.

Joedetic Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Use DVD Decrypter to copy the disk onto your HDD then "auto gordian knot" to convert it into an AVI.
StewartKnight Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 if you're copying your own DVD then Nero does a good job. A lot of the other software mentioned here removes the DRM, which is illegal (copyright infringement), but you won't have any DRM since you made it yourself........

There are some things that EduGeek members can give advice to one another about and there are some things we cannot. If a member asks about how to do something that is in direct breach of laws of the land then there is only one possible response. Stop asking. People will explain to you why you can't, people will give options to do things differently but irregardless of whether you want to do it as part of your job in a school or whether you want to do it at home the answer will be the same. This is not limited to ripping DVDs but obtaining any copyrighted materials without paying due diligence to the relevant laws. Please do not ask about this in future. Tony - Site Admin
