Hello guys

Im looking to use Print Mangement for one of my schools. The DC is windows server 2003 standard edition and the print server using print management is windows 2003 R2.

When i try to deploy printers using GPO in print management it gives me the following error.

Deploying printer connection '\\win23ksrv02\ICT Suite - Colour' to per machine GPO 'newone' failed. The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist.

To my understanding this is something to do with Schema being upgraded to R2. I have never done a update of the schema?

Is the upgrade on the DC or print server?

Any tutorials on how to do a schema R2 update?

You need Win2K8R2 DC's to upgrade the schema.

Have a look at Group Policy preferences for printer deployments. I looked at deploying the printers through printer deployment then realised that you can specify the default printer so knocked it on the head and used GPP's

You do not need a 2k8 server or a schema upgrade - you only need a Windows 7 machine with RSAT installed, and the Group Policy Preferences update installed on your XP / Server 2003 machines. When you then manage group policy on your DC from the Windows 7 PC you get the extra options.

You may also need to copy the ADMX \ ADML files over to your SYSVOL share.
