[android] Android MDM............Why is it not easy...

OK, so I have to find a MDM for android, we don't mind paying for it but it seems they all offer different things.

One company will let you disable cameras but wont let you restrict settings, another will restrict access to settings, but wont let you disable cameras...

 

I want a MDM that will let me manage every setting I can, if one company can manage one setting, then why cant the others??

 

I can live with the inconsistency of settings, but the real deal breaker is the ability to force install apps. The Play store can force an app install on a device without user interaction, but I cant find a MDM that can. I can allocate apps for install, but they still require users to push buttons and install them. This is ok on devices allocated to staff, but a suitcase with 30 of them in that comes out once a day for different classes of primary children, this isn't a way forward.

 

Does anybody have a solution to batch app installs on android?

I would be recommended if you can find a good MDM for Android, we have several hundred devices and would be a good thing to have.

Personally I would just register the class sets all to one Google account and then use the Google Play store to push out the apps.

 

Meraki System Manager now has some Android MDM features. It is limited at the moment, (doesn't do push installs, I checked), but the stuff it does do is free.

The default device policy will audit apps and turn off the camera.

You'll need to wait for 4.2 to support multi users.
