pmdc199 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I have seen smooth wall but what is bloxx like as a product and cost please?
Edu-IT Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 For pricing, contact Academia or something. Academia Ltd | Educational Software Licensing, Hardware & Training Bloxx also do a web demo if you wanted a proper demonstration.
timbo343 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 We had a demo from bloxx along with some pricing. Found that bloxx we £4000 more expensive than smoothwall. We are looking at Websense again or Smoothwall but may have to have a third for rules. Dunno if we can ask for just smoothwall or websense prices. Smoothwall does look the better deal when it comes to licensing as websense license per device and with BOYD which i plan to do in the future, then things could rocket out of control...
bossman Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 +1 Smoothwall..............great after service too
carvjo Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 We use BLOXX - the deal was very keen on price, including 3 years support and maintenence. You have to negotiate.. One of the hard drives in the RAID set recently reported a problem - a quick call to BLOXX support and a complete replecement unit arrived before 10am next day - with our configuration pre-loaded. Also - the BLOXX stuff works well and is easy to use..

carvjo Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Could you give me a rough idea of price and is it per pupil? ..it's per device, not pupil.. we got a TVT-1250 which is a mid-range unit - we paid for 3 years worth of updates and support and the hardware was thrown-in (we were upgrading from an older model though).. I've no idea of the 2012/13 pricing.. but the update and maintenence costs were similar (or slightly lower) than competing products..
zag Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Both the companies are very flexible on price Just show them the quote from each other.
