C:\windows\csc Offline Files Cache

I have noticed some machines with smaller hard drives are becoming totally full due to some kind of automatic caching or offline files.

 

I am pretty sure I have configured the offline files settings to disabled, but do have a separate GPO configured to enable offline files on the computer level in the GPO for some staff laptops. But these machines are in a different OU to that GPO so should not have offline files enabled.

 

I have two machines here, one has a 20GB in the C:\windows\csc folder and the other has 8GB in the C:\windows\csc folder. The staff do have pretty big personal drives and quite a few staff have logged onto the machines.

 

The machines only have 40GB hard drives, and I thought windows only used up to 25% of the total hard drive size for caching/offline files so this is not making much sense.

 

Like I say, I am pretty sure Offline Files is disabled so I am guessing it is a hidden setting somewhere which is causing this to happen.

 

If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful.

I had problems deleting the offline files with a similar issue. In the end I used a live linux usb to boot from and then i could see and delete the files. For me it was caching our network shares. When the files were all deleted i made sure offline files were disabled and that was it. I hope this helps
