CAM Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I don't trust the public lists, too much hacker bait. Any tips?
LiamH Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 If you want to play on a tekkit server i have one you can play on.
bushby Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 the server i use is Here its a white list server and all the people are frendly and also have a beer pong table on the site there is also a live map which you can see the creations on
Geoff Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I run a tekkit server, I have posted the details on another forum I frequent.
LiamH Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Tekkit is minecraft + a few mods, but you can download a client that includes all the mods in one file so its bit easier especially with all the client mods needed. The Tekkit Wiki
CAM Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 Wow, Tekkit has a lot of rather big addons.
LiamH Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 yep, can build anything from lamps to nuclear reactors
fairm010 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I'd love to join somebodys Minecraft server, hate the public ones.
elsiegee40 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Read this http://www.edugeek.net/forums/edugeek-minecraft/74897-edugeek-minecraft-server-details.html
localzuk Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Just to clarify - Tekkit is the spawn of satan, as it originally basically ripped off a pile of mods without permission from the mod owners. By them now being in there, they are denying those mod-creators income as most mod-creators use ad.fly or the like to generate some income. For servers - try tuning into some of the more popular twitch.tv minecraft channels, some of them have servers. For example, zeekdageek has a PVP raiding server that's free (but you can pay to get extras).
LiamH Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Tekkit is fully supported by all the mod authors now. To the point where they actively work together to integrate the mods better with each other. I think originally there was a bit of an issue with 2 of the mod makers (forestry and better than wolfs), one mod maker coded malicious code into his mod (forestry) while the other was pulled.

Tekkit didn't get permission for all of the mods (and still doesn't). Which caused forestry to be coded by Sengir to be incompatible and therefore removed from the current version of Tekkit. Tekkit is stuck on Minecraft 1.2.5 and there is no prospect for versions beyond that. So it's basically a dead end.
localzuk Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Why is nobody EVER on the Edu server? I'd be on there, but I've gone through a 'meh, Minecraft' period. I'll likely be on there again at some point.
fairm010 Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I agree... Sometimes I realise what a time waste it is, then go back to it in eager! Hope to see you there soon, it looks really cool but no idea what to do there!
ZeroHour Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Pretty much the same as Localz, I will be back on it soon, just had a lot on with server setups etc lately.
DMcGuigan Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I got locked out of Minecraft last night, didn't know about this Mojang account stuff. Got it all fixed now though, so you may see me on the 'Geek server in coming days. *runs off to PM ZH his Minecraft name*
SYNACK Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Is Minecraft really that good? I find $45 for anything written in java a bit steep however people do seem to rave about it.

I paid £10 for it though. And its $45? According to the site, it is £17.95, which is $28ish. Do you pay a different price there then?
