Using multiple Datasets for reporting in CMIS?

Hi, I'm new to both education and CMIS. I have a problem that I hope someone can help with.

 

We have changed our school year so that it now runs from June to End of May.

 

However, we are legally required to produce attendace reports from September to September. Is there any way of using two datasets to report from CMIS. Or is there any way to transfer our June/July attendance records back to the previous year's dataset??
