gsk Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Hi All, Has anyone managed to get spiceworks to email you through exchange rather than smtp? As I understand it, Capita haven't set up SMTP so schools are going to have to find a way around it for devices or programs that send automated emails. I've tried lots of different combinations of accounts\username just username etc and am not really getting anywhere. Cheers, GSK
FN-GM Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 In the email settings in Spiceworks there is an option for exchange settings. Its right next door to SMTP settings.
gsk Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 Sorry I should have been more clear. I know where the exchange settings need to go, but just can't get the right combination of port/username/password/domain to make it authenticate properly.
localzuk Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 It requires the Exchange server admin to have the WebDav component enabled. If it isn't it won't work. I can't get it to work via the LEA provided email servers here, so I have a Gmail account everything is relayed through instead. 1
cheesypete Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Thanks LocalZUK - think that basically confirms the conclusion i had come to and have now set up our helpdesk to come through Gmail However, has anyone managed to get forwarding to work from an existing account to gmail? I'm trying to avoid getting staff to remember a different helpdesk address by having forwarding set up on the existing account, but it doesnt seem to work? The email hits the original account (with forwarding turned on) but it never arrives at the Gmail address?

We have forwarding set up for a user, which sends to Gmail, and then that is picked up by spiceworks. You can only set it up by connecting to the exchange account in Outlook and setting up a rule.
