Hello all I'm new here so please forgive me if I have posted this is the wrong place.

We are a Novell house running OES / DSFW. We are also using Novell messenger. We are currently moving away from Novell and going to a pure Windows solution. In doing so Novell messenger will no longer work. Can anyone recommend a Lan messenger solution?

What we are looking for in a lan messenger solution is:

1. it must archive all messages "on server"

2. it must not communicate with out of band programs like AOL

3. it must work across different subnets

This is going to be used by faculty and staff "not students" to communicate with out interrupting the class. I have looked at many Free lan messengers but most do not archive. I also looked at Lantalk and Outlook lan messenger. Lantalk seems to do what I want but are there any others out there?

Thanks for all replies

Thanks

looking at it I'm seeing I need a CAL for the server then I also need a CAL for each teacher. Do you happen to know how much each CAL is?

If you have EEES from MS CALS are included

Thank you for the replies. currently we are not EEES but we have been looking into it. If we do then I think Lync would be the way to go. I have to find out from my director if EEES is doable this year or not.
