Free antivirus for corporate/educational use?

Hi All,

 

I was wondering if there were any of these about and if there were any in particular that were highly regarded?

 

I'd like to migrate to a vanilla network and I'm not convinced that the RM Virus Protect will work on a vanilla network. I don't particularly like the product itself either really.

Forgive my ignorance, but is that the subscription based licensing thing with ms? We do that but only for office, would we still qualify?

I think you need the Client Pack, which includes Office & Windows +CALS

Ah right. I'm pretty sure we don't get cals in our agreement, just office. That's a shame. Any others out there that are free?

Is a full-blown SCCM installation required for Forefront on the network?

No. You can silently install it and then configure it with a GPO. Technically you need SCCM for the reporting, but you can probably script a capture of the log files.

You can also deploy the definition updates with wsus.
