Graphics card insted of hd graphics.

I have a ati x1950pro. Im tempted to install it in my computer

 

Intel I3 (1st gen)

8gb ram

Hd grahics

 

Is this worth doing? I don't often play games but the card is sat around.

Yeah it'll be worth it on a 1st gen i3 as long as you'd use it otherwise you're just adding to your electricity bill. At least it's not an nvidia GTX2/4 series

I wouldn't bother - the card is 6 years old (Comparison of AMD graphics processing units - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and if you don't play many games then just stick with the onboard graphics.

 

Putting this card in will only chew through power without reason.

 

If uve got the AGP version it won't even fit in anyway....

It was only a thought. Dosnt seem to be a windows 7 driver. The card is pci -e

 

I just stick to hd graphics until i get some dosh to upgrade the whole system.

Got 2 here. Used to be used in crossfire.

There are drivers for that card in Windows 7 (x86 and 64 bit). It'll be far more powerful than the onboard graphics in the i3 (and is more powerful than the HD 4000 in Ivy Bridge) but it's only DirectX 9.0c. Worth it for gaming, otherwise no point.
