[wds] I have 3 computers that now won't connect to WDS ..

Ok, so I have 3 computers in the ICT Suite that won't see and connect to WDS. They were working fine but someone turned them off midway through (THANKS! gah!) and now they won't connect over PXE to get WDS. They look for a DHCP connection but don't get one. I've tested on another machine and that connects fine to it and all that jazz.

 

I've tried flushing the DHCP server to make sure that there's not a conflicting thing in the cache stopping them, and I've even restarted all the servers to double check they're all running fine, and been through the different services checking they're up and running, which they all are.

 

I'm starting to pull my hair out with it (and as my wife will tell you, that's not a good thing as the thinning has already naturally started! lol) so I'm just after any pointers that I should be looking for, any ideas that I might be able to go over to check everything again as we now have 3 useless machines in the suite and I don't really want to to go into the rigmarole of building them individually (or even one and cloning) when I have a perfectly good image to hand.

It's usually a managed switch that's kicking the client off. If you're running spanning tree, ensure portfast is enabled on client ports.

Ah .. could be .. I'll check the switches, but to be honest, the only reason we have managed switches is they were specced when we had some inter-site fibre installed .. so they don't do much .. but I'll look all the same ..

Well, I've check the switches and as thought, they're just sat there being pretty (I should make more use of them really, but that can be for another day) and other computers (quite literally either side of these 3 that aren't working - both on the bench and on the switch) are functioning great .. so I'm no further on .. are there caches somewhere I could clean out etc? List any that might effect it as I could have missed.

seems to have solved it in the end! lol .. DOH!

Though PXE does seem to be very slow in getting hooked up to the system .. but hey .. if it works ..
