MDM solution for free worth looking at!!

Hi All,

 

I have been playing around with Meraki's free MDM solution which has ticked a lot of boxes for me. I even phoned them up to confirm that this was free to use! But this is a free cloud based MDM solution for iOS, Mac, Windows and android soon.

 

It allows you setup profiles and using push notification send profiles and updates and also APPS

Well worth a look if you have iPads or iPod Touches and iPhones.

I remember playing with this ages ago, and unless it has changed I don't think there is a way to stop the end user from removing the profile from there device. Otherwise its good, and free!

You can set a pin for security on the profile.

Thats good, I'm glad they have implemented something like that as it kinda made it pointless having a profile that could be removed. Edited September 11, 2012 by JR-PCS

Acording to Meraki's own FAQ

What prevents a user from deleting the Systems Manager profile from a managed device?

 

On iOS devices, due to Apple's restrictions, there's nothing that prevents a savvy user from doing this. Thus, we encourage administrators to provide incentive to the user to keep the profile on the device, for example by including the wireless network credentials in the MDM profile. Then, if the profile is removed, so is network access. Administrators can also configure email alerts to be sent in the event a profile is removed.
