Windows 7 Profile issues

Hi everyone.

 

Has anyone had issues with user profiles and folder re-direction with w7 and server 2008r2 ? 90 % of the users on the network (new domain) all logon a few times fine then start getting the black background and cant click documents (from the start menu) to load their redirected documents. instead they then have to goto their drive in "My computer" Poor them!

 

still its bugging them and me. any ideas ?

I recall this being caused by corruption redirected APPDATA folders. The long term fix was to not redirect and reset all the student profiles. We also patched all the components in windows 7 involved in logon (kernel, tcpip, smb, csc, userprofile, group policy, folder redirection)

 

There is a script out there to fix the broken library shortcuts, but I found it would tend to re-occour, and I never really trusted that other elements of the profile weren't broken too. Can't remember where it is found though, sorry.
