Anyone got an internet-able phone for sale ?

I am (or rather my son is) in need of a phone to replace his failing BlackBerry as he can't afford one before he can upgrade next year. It needs to have internet access but other than that it can be really low-level. He is just worried that he is going to be left with no phone. He is a very poor student living on a pittance and really cant buy anything new.

Doesnt matter what network it is on.

Thanks

I've got a Orange San Francisco (Android phone) unlocked to all networks if that's any good? Back is a bit tatty but the screen is in good condition, it's boxed, spare battery, and it's still a fairly decent phone...would be after about £45.

Or if you're after even cheaper, I have a Sony Ericsson W995 locked to 3 for £30 :)

Will ask him but I think £45, whilst a good price, is going to be beyond him as that represents almost a whole weeks money for him. Thanks though.

The San Francisco is a good phone (the wife has one), it is a rebadged ZTE Blade.

ROM Flashing info here ZTE Blade - xda-developers

If I recall there are two memory layouts for this phone GEN 1 and GEN 2 and you have to make sure you use the right ROM for the version of the phone you have - Most new ROMS are now GEN 2

There is an app called "Ask Mr Pig Fish" that will tell you what version you have.

If it is a GEN 1 you can convert it to a GEN 2 by flashing the correct Total Phone Transfer(tpt) ROM

Rooted and flashed a while ago, but not done a GEN2 upgrade, might do that thanks. I agree it is a good phone, half of me wants to just keep it as a spare since it worked so well.

Hi Witch,

I've got an old BlackBerry (Storm 2, I think, but I can check the model when I get home) sat in a cupboard at home which he is more than welcome to have, for free?
