Your Thoughts Please - RNLI/Coastguard

Anyone on here part of the RNLI or Coastguard??

 

Im really interested in joining the coastguard, but not sure what the school would think about me potentially being on call, and being called out?

 

Your thoughts??

I would love to but live about 20 miles away from the sea/coast. TBH its up to the school at the end of the day. Talk to the head teacher. They may well like the idea and let you go for it.

If the school think about it careful it can be of benefit to them and you need to sell it to them if you want to join.

 

You can bring the school a lot i.e. medical training, safety on water advising children etc, making the school look good, a working partnership between school and RNLI.

 

It's like been a retained firefighter just a different job. Generally organisations like this have someone that can come and talk to your bosses if they are really not buying it. Obviously it all depends on your job in the school but some people get a lot of out this.

I never thought about it in that way! I suppose the training could be a great advantage to the school. I am only starting my new job on Monday, so maybe i will wait a while before talking to them about it?!

Get settled in but do some research about it and get your case ready.
