Yes, All the updates have been done. Apple Configurator is running 1.4, and iTunes is running the latest version.

I have tried that numerous times. Restarted the iPad's, Restarted the MacBook. It even fails when I try to do it through iTunes. I get the 'Preparing device for update' at the top, and then it just goes back to the apple logo, and the iPad is no longer shown in the list on the left. Almost as if it has been disconnected? In apple configurator the additional error message when you click the 'i' button is: failed to connect to booted os device Any other ideas??

Hi All, Following the release of IOS7, I have been trying to update one of our test iPads, to see what the process is like etc, but I cant even get it to update the iPad!! All our iPads are supervised, and when I plug the iPad into the MacBook it automatically tries to update to IOS7. It then goes through the 'unpacking' process, and onto the installation. After a few minutes it failes with the following error message! Any help or ideas please???

So we have brought 2 class sets of iPads, and we are a google apps school. Trying to think of ways to be able to use these devices in a shared environment. Things like Gmail, Google Drive etc. Cheers

Hi All, I am wondering if somebody can help me here? I have used a brilliant script from here along with the OCT to deploy office 2010 to our workstations. I testing the script and the GPO deployment, and have noticed that when office installs it does not seem to install the proofing tools. I am not sure if i have missed something out in the customization tool, or whether I have downloaded the wrong version of Office?? Any help would be much appreciated. Matt

I had a pair of Scarpa SL's and found them too heavy. My current boots are the Mammut Mercury Advanced GTX. They are so much lighter, and so far the comfiest pair of boots i have owned! I could walk for days on end in them! It all depends on how much you want to pay, and what manufacturer fits your feet best?!

The problem I have is that I cant replicate the fault, so it will be very difficult to test? Has anyone experienced this causing the login time to be dramatically slower?

Thanks Michael, we are using XP, so not sure if this still applies? Jonny, I ended the explorer.exe process and restarted it, and as soon as it restarts you get the 'setting up personalised settings' box in the top left of the screen, then everything loads fine?

Hello All, After a bit of help really ... When students and staff are logging into some machines, they get the My Documents Folder display, but no desktop or start menu loads. Initially i thought it might be an issue with Sophos, but checked the console, and nothing suspicious is being flagged up on any of the machines affected. If the user does ctrl + alt + del and logs out, they are then able to log in again successfully. This is also happening of random machines, to random users it seems. I do not think it is a profile issue either, as i have deleted the profiles from the machines and the server so the user picks up a fresh profile, and the issue is still happening. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any help would be great? Matt

Hello there, We use Serif Movie Plus X3 software in out IT Suite's for movie editing. We are having the problem where a number of students are unable to import .mov files into the library on all the machines. Using our test student account (which is in in the same OU) it works fine. This is what we have tried so far: Forcing the student account, and the test student account to pickup the default profile - Test account works, Student account doesn't Pointing the home directory of the student account to the test account - Student account does not work Uninstalling Movie Plus and QuickTime. Deleting anything relating to Movie Plus (App Data etc) and going through the registry. Re-installing Movie Plus (and the recommend QuickTime included in the Movie Plus Installer) From what we have done, i think we have eliminated anything to do with the profile and/or home directory, and also eliminated anything to do with the hardware/software. We also know that adding the Student to the domain admins group, we can make this work, and also accessing the file from the local drives makes it work too. It seems that it is something to do with the file on the Home Directory of the user? Any help would be much appreciated. Matt

We also use Group Policy Item Level Targeting. Based on a Security group for Laptop users, and computer name for desktop machines. Only just rolled it out in the last few weeks, and it seems to be working very well.

We are in the process of a new build at our school, and we have been asked as a team to put together a wishlist of things the we would like, both in our office and in the new server room. We have thought of the obvious things such as Air Con, Storage space etc. Just wondering what others would put on their wishlist? Matt

I never thought about it in that way! I suppose the training could be a great advantage to the school. I am only starting my new job on Monday, so maybe i will wait a while before talking to them about it?!

I was actually at the interview yesterday, so was not in school! I have found the staff handbook, and it does not mention anything to do with resignation or notice periods. That is what i was wondering, whether by me starting work, that it meant that I had accepted the terms and conditions of the position. I think that they would want me out sooner rather than later, as somebody else said they would be able to offer the position to somebody else that they interviewed??

Email is the only way that i have of contacting them, but i am not sure whether they will even be checking the emails. Maybe i should just hand in a notice letter to the network manager for 1 week. I have found on the internet, the generic support staff contract for Bristol City Council, and i think that stipulates 1 week notice if you are in your probationary period, but then again as you say, officially i am not even in a contract currently. I want to go for the job. I have defiantly decided that. The school is nicer, better pay, and much closer. So that's a no brainier really. To be honest with you, i have been pretty worried about no contract, and don't even know if i'm going to get paid this month. As you probably know, there is hardly any staff in at the moment, so nobody to talk to. The only person in the Network manager, who is also new, and doesn't really have any proper info. Hi All, I have just started a new job at a school which is about 40 minutes commute. I only started last week, so have been here for about 10 days. The network manager here is also new, and started about 2 weeks before me. My official line manager is one of the deputy heads, who has not been in over the summer, and i only met once at interview. I have not received any contract, only a job offer letter? Here is my problem. Whilst working my notice period in my previous job, i applied for another job which was on a much higher grade, and only a 2 mile drive in. I had the interview yesterday, and got offered the job this morning? I am in a real perdiciment as to what to do. I don't even know how much notice i have to work, and don't really even know who to speak to about it. The school did not know that i had an interview yesterday, and the new place do not want a reference from them. At the same time though, i don't want to leave the current school completely in the lurch by just leaving? Any advice from you guys?
