Office 365 federated users, locked out

Hi,

 

A brief overview of my stupidity.

 

Setup a new domain on 365 using the domain.onmicrosoft.com approach, worked great

Verified my real domain.

Setup dirsync, great

Changed UPN on users to real domain.

Setup active directory federation services 2.0, stupidly migrated my only admin account to a federated setup before I got single sign on to work. Now I can't login to the admin portal because it wants me to use the new federated login page which I don't have working. How can I disable federation so that I can login bearing in mind that the account was used for dirsync and PowerShell so I can't use either of those tools.

 

I know should have ha multiple admin accounts but hindsight is always 20/20.

Looking at the docs it looks like you'd normally run a Powershell command but as you can't do that... I don't think there's much you can do other than get MS to do something.

 

I'd say submit a support case to Office365 but looks like you have to be logged in to 365 to be able to do that! That's awkward.

 

Hopefully one of the Office365 Microsoft staff on here will be able to help.

Called Microsoft Support. They managed to resolve this for me by creating a new admin account and providing me with the details.

Don't worry you're not alone. I did a very similar thing.

 

How long did it take MS to sort you out? I was on the phone for well over an hour!

Well I had to call up twice, the first guy didnt really understand what I was talking about. 2nd person knew exactly what to do and it took about 15 minutes.
