Two domains to one

Hi all,

 

After a bit of discussion, SLT are set on deploying SIMs everywhere to run everyone's life.

 

We currently have the Admin and Curriculum type set up, with separate domains on separate VLANs. SIMs server is currently on Admin only.

 

Could anyone point me in the direction of how I would go about doing this please? And an idea of how long it may take, with around 150 computers and a couple of servers?

 

Things I assume need doing:

- Recreate Active Directory with all new users

- Delete both domains and create a brand new one, individually join each workstation to the new domain

.. I'm a bit stuck, not done this before!

why not keep curric domain as is and just add sims server and admin pcs/users to that?

This, unless they're both in a bit of a state I would use one of your existing domains as a basis. You could also do this with trusts, but a single domain will result in a more manageable system.

Well SLT have told me this morning, we break up tomorrow, and they want it for September start. And I'm term time only.

 

I've initially said they are barking mad, and need to communicate better...
