Desktop folder redirect stopped working

Came into work this morning and found that all our windows 7 machines had stopped redirecting the start menu and desktop. The users can access the actual desktop and start menu shared location (I tried this in the current users session which had failed to redirect), and all their drives had mapped correctly. After looking around I tried the fix here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008-r2/87121-kb2525332-stopped-folder-redirection.html which fixed the problem after rebooting. However after a further reboot the problem reappeared.

 

The system had been working fine for ages and nothing has been changed recently, any ideas?

Do you folder redirect with gpo?

 

Do you do the redirect through dfs?

 

Have you rebooted the server with the shares on?

 

Have you checked that the path to the shares is available?

 

Have you done a rsop.msc on the client machine and checked the eventvewier for errors.

 

Have you done a a dcdiag and a netdiag on the servers domain controller?

 

Have a look to see is a windows update has brought up the firewall on the server.

HI exactly the same problem, will look at adding it to a gpo.

Redirection is done via GPO.

Redirection is to a linux samba server.

I havent rebooted the file server as the user can access the file share, its just not being redirected.

The firewall is not blocking the server.

 

I will try the rsop and dcdiag/netdiag.

 

Another note, windows XP machines continue to work fine and redirect to the same location.
