Prevent UAC popping up on our new PS Financial Portal

We are rolling out a new finance package to allow staff to review their budget reports etc.

 

They can login to the portal fine and run reports from the internet webserver.

They can run the report and view it on screen fine also.

 

However the issue comes when they want to run the report.

 

A UAC message pops up after they click the print icon within the webpage.

 

It states that:

 

do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer

SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2

Verified Publisher : Microsoft Corp.

File Origin : Downloaded from the Internet

Program Location : http://fs01-v/Reports/...

 

I thought initially it was my Staff Software Restriction Policy kicking in - but the message also comes up for domain admins.

 

Can something be done to allow the print icon to work without any messages popping up?

Can you not disable the UAC, i find it causes lots of issues in lots of programs. Also, have you added this to the trusted site list in IE as this is an internal website?

This is an issue with crappy homemade software that can't run properly without admin permissions. Explain that the software is not fully Windows 7 compatible and explain this is why you need to be consulted before new purchases are made.

 

I run into this issue alot with so called windows 7 software built by rubbish lazy lowend software developers that sit on £3000 rigs and wonder why your budget 5 year old school PC doesn't run the software. Running on admin perm all the time for speed.

oh, try giving the users admin perms in the ACL of the softwares folder.

Rather not disable UAC - I've got this far with it running

 

Will try adding the http://fs01-v/ site to the trusted zone in IE via GPO.

 

Chazzy, the software is not installed locally so not sure how I would go about giving the users the right perms on the webserver - I did nt set it up PS Financials sub contracted the install I believe - they then remote in to fix issues...

No local software? The UAC is on the client machine so local software is changing the system. Humm, a rubbish ActiveX plugin maybe. in which case you've already chosen the best approach. if that doesn't work maybe find the activex plugin on the local PC and give it the perms?

It's SQL reporting services, so in this case the crappy software company are Microsoft themselves
