Exchange 2010 - New GAL Empty

Hi,

 

I am trying to make a new GAL and i am using this code. The pupils ad account have the deparment field populated as pupil. When i come to look at the GAL its empty.

 

Any thoughts please?

Doesn't the GAL only update every 24 hours??

 

You sure its not just that the GAL hasn't refreshed?

are you using address book policies or are you creating a address list?

 

If address list, is thta included in the OAB if using cache mode?

 

Do you see it via OWA?

Hi, it isnt empty it just shows the current students account

 

I left it 24 hours. It made no difference.

 

I am using an address list policy with the default offline address book. OWA does the exact same as outlook.

I've been trying to repro the issue, which I think I have.

 

After you have created the GAL for the students and staff do the below.

 

Update-GlobalAddressList "Staff"

Update-GlobalAddressList "Students"

 

The recipientfilter isn't applied until you run the above.

@sukh that did the trick!!! If i add new users to exchange do i have to run the Update-GlobalAddressList command?

for the ABP yes, but the default GAL works fine.

RUS has been removed since 2003 so users shows up instantly in the GAL, however it seems not to work with the ABP unless you manually update.

Thats not very good. I think i might setup a scheduled task to run every night to do the updates.
