The Twilight Zone that is my Workstation

Here is the scenario, when I shutdown my work PC at the end of the day it refuses to switch back on in the morning. I can get it to switch on by doing one of the following things and this seems to be on a bi weekly rotation:

 

1. Take out the fuse in the power lead and put it back in, will not switch on, however, if I take out the fuse and using a multimeter carry out a circuit continuity test to test the fuse, put the fuse back in it starts straight away.

 

2. When that fails I unplug the ATX plug from the main board, plug in an ATX power Supply tester and everything shows as fine, plug the ATX plug back in and it start straight away.

 

I have changed the power supply and the same thing happens.

 

Anyone have any idea whats going on?

Each of those things uses up time, try switching it off at the wall and holding the tower button down for 10-20 seconds. This should discharge the caps in the psu and motherboard so that any weird state is reset. It could be an issue with the psu, the mb or even the cmos battery.

Seems to restart after doing that once discharging the Caps, can't be PSU as I hve swapped it and tested both and both are fine, so must be MB, will check it tomorrow . Nice one Synack.
