dany2010 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) Hi, We deploy printers using group policy preferences and up until recently we have just installed all printers for everyone. ( Just to get it working ) I am now trying to get the system to only install printers on that location. We have five sites, computer names start with CO,ST... depending on the site that the computer is located. In the item targeting in GPP i have set the printers to only add if the computer name is CO* OR ST*. This sometimes work and sometimes doesnt. All machines are running windows 7 pro and up to date. Any ideas? Thanks Edited June 29, 2012 by dany2010
Michael Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Move the Computer Objects into a sub OU and apply the GPP based on Computer Object membership.
deano Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Set the computers in security groups for the room and then use ITL
PiqueABoo Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 You can target GPPs based on Site so is there a reason you're not doing that? Or are these not proper AD Sites?
dany2010 Posted June 30, 2012 Author Posted June 30, 2012 Good idea, that would probably be more simple effective. We didnt do it this way as all pupil pc's have the same policies but think i may change that now. Will bring it up at the next meeting we have, may get it done before summer finishes. The joys of just being a technician, find all the solutions but have to pass them on to get it sorted rather than just doing it straight away. Many thanks
