We are having a new duct put in between 2 buildings and running a new fibre link. I've now been asked if the electrics can run in the same duct, i know you shouldn't run copper and electric together but what about fibre and electric?

Shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure you leave plenty of space, so you can add stuff in the future.

Caveat though if they are pulling electrical cables in and damage the fibre make sure it's in the contract that they will replace/repair the fibre.

Are their existing drawropes to be used? if not it's riskier to add rods to pull one though.

Make sure they include a spare drawrope with any work.

The duct isn't down yet and will be making sure there are more drawropes than we currently need. Thanks for confirming my thoughts, best to check though! :)

Ooops just realised i stuck this in the wrong network forum! Sorry Mods!

Ok thought you were talking of utilising one that had allready been put in place.

They just want to use one for cost saving?

What about the fire alarm, burglar alarm and telephone cables?
