Can anyone recommend any training resources for technicians with experience on Windows, but little on Macs? Websites, books, training, etc.

I really have nothing against MACs used in the environments where they excel and are by far the best tool for the job. Likewise, there are plenty of Mac loving Techies (many who lurk here) who can make them do whatever they want them to. What I really despise are those MAC advocates that campaign to get Macs adopted into an already well estabished Wintel Environment then spend a disproportionate amount of time trying to make them emulate a PC to run SIMs on! Why spend £600 on a PC when you can spend £1200 on a MAC you know it makes sense. Edited June 25, 2012 by m25man 1

Why spend £600 on a PC when you can spend £1200 on a MAC you know it makes sense. I know how you feel. I personally use a Mac at home. But at work i am yet be convinced. We will be getting them in the new build, i am sure i will miss the ability to manage to clients like you can with Windows.

I am certainly not opposed in principle to getting Macs in. There would be value in offering the students experience of a different environment. I would have been supportive if we were getting a batch of 5 or so to do music or video editing, etc. Unfortunately, the head decided on an unhappy compromise of slotting a couple into an existing Windows suite, which I think will result in them running Windows most of the time. Thank you for the list of links Arther, that should keep me busy for a while.
