Dye-sub printer recommendations?

Morning folks, anyone got a recommendation for a good dye-sub printer (for fabric etc) - money not quite no object but doesn't have to be cheap...

Ok well most of the suppliers will sell you an epson inkjet printer with a continuous ink system containing the dye sub inks.

 

These work ok as long as they get regular use but if they are left for any length of time can cause issues, we were told to leave the printer on all the time to avoid problems.

We have an epson printer for this and agree with @plexer. Ours was turned off for a few weeks and had nothing but trouble with it and in the end it went back to epson to have a part changed on it.

We've gone though 2 epson printers, and I think the 3rd one that is less than 3 months old is also about to get thrown out the window as the ink blocks the printheads if not used regularly

Hmmm so Epson not that great, perhaps. What's a typical model?

Ours is a stylus 1400 with ink resovoir and hose assembly. Ours has been repaired twice through an epson partner. It cost us around £20 for new ink cartridge and hose assembly and £65ish for a service from epson. I wouldnt personally have another and have already told our DT department that if it happens again we should consider different printer as i have read alot of problems about this model on the internet.

I think you'll find that almost all dye sub and icing printers are based on an Epson printers due to the way that the epson tech works.

 

With daily use you will find it better than we did as ours only got used ocassionally.
