Have one of our servers fall over as it ran out of disk space, its a known problem we have and our main server is fine. Just clearing some breathing space now and wondering if I can just delete the $NtUninstallKB*** folders form the windows directory? Dont intend to uninstall any of the updates as non have caused any issues and it would clear a heck of a bit of vital disk space. Already cleared .log and .tmp files to clear some space. Anything else to clear?

CCleaner --> CCleaner - What operating systems does CCleaner support?

If you wanted to make a backup of those $NTUininstallKB*** folders then do that and wipe them off the drive

Was there any apps you could remove that are not required on the server, any local profiles possibly ( Long shot ) ?

Are you able to resize the OS Drive using some of the space from the data drive if said server has RAID and you have more room on your data partition or any other partition(s) ?

Just some thoughts......

Have you checked the Disk Cleanup within windows? We had an issue like this at a previous place which caused Exchange to stop running and Disk Cleanup identified about 5GB that could be cleared :-)

Will check the disk cleanup utility and ccleaner (usually use that on my own pc but was not sure about server) . All unused profiles, apps etc have been removed. Partitions are unequal but not the time at moment to do that...summer job maybe.

Maybe run the disk cleanup and ccleaner on a friday once a week or at least once a fortnight before everyone goes home if it finds enough space that it can free items up with ?

Also not sure on the server os but if you go add / remove programs --> additional components --> is there anything here you can remove ie wallpapers / games etc etc ?

I did, without any ill effect.

The other good places to start looking are to see if there are any BMP files which you can convert to JPEGs, people with holiday photos in their MyDocs folder and AVI video files.

TreeSize is an excellent program for identifying which you are you largest folders so you know where to start looking.
