Pip54 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Has anyone done a comparison between the major Telco's and their pricing for National Ethernet, DIA and Business Broadband? I'm doing a project that calls for 10Mb, 100Mb and 1Gb National Ethernet with DIA access to the cloud probably about 34Mb and broadband but I have no idea what bandwidths this comes in for business. Alternatively what's the best method (and pricing) of connecting several regional offices all with 100Mb, internet and broadband? Thanks, Pip
Geoff Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 To connect your sites run VPNs over leased lines. You are looking at about £1,100 a month for 100mbit depending on location, provider, inplace infrastructure and what SLAs you require. 1
Pip54 Posted June 12, 2012 Author Posted June 12, 2012 Thanks Geoff for your quick response. So if we have say Ethernet network with Cisco switches and want to install IP Telephony on each site and if we connect to the other sites using 100Mb leased lines (or LES) and run VPN's over them for which we could use for connecting remote PC's etc that's great but what about Direct Internet Access and Business Broadband any thoughts here please?
MatthewL Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 I would speak to Virgin Media and check out their MLPS, its what we use for site connectivity. 1
glennda Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Give @psillars a shout - he works for M247 and there leased lines are brilliant and will do just what you need! 1

Ah I misunderstood. You want to dedicate 100mbit to the site to site connectivity all the time? 1
Pip54 Posted June 13, 2012 Author Posted June 13, 2012 Thanks Matt, I guess this is the National Ethernet that comes in 10Mb, 100Mb and 1Gb bandwidths. MPLS is good and I'm told we could run VPLS over it but for what I'm not sure. I know CWW provide MPLS this as well as VM, could you give me some idea of what the costs are please? I guess for Internet Access it's a leased line/WES or equivalent to the cloud (at least 34Mb and more like 100Mb is this is not too expensive) and probably the same for Broadband to the PoP? Is it possible to have Internet and Broadband to gether in one provisioned circuit? Thanks Pip
SimpleSi Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I think someones trying a pet AI program out here So
GrumbleDook Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 For costs ... for something this specific you need to speak with the ISPs as any prices others might have aren't likely to be reflective of what your needs are. To some extent it sound like need to speak to a MAN/WAN expert at the ISP if you are looking VPLS. Many RBCs run over MPLS so we know it works pretty well, but can add on costs you might not like ... but get the benefits of effectively being a single network. 1
