Flash and Java on AMD64 Build [ubuntu]

Personal question - although work related because I need Java functional for remote access software.

Flash won't install saying it's not compatable with my AMD64 build of ubuntu [KDE istalled as well]

And Java has installed but every browser I try crashes out when accepting the 'install component' message from the java installer. I presume this is to do with my build as well, as I had it working well when I had XandrOS on for those few hours, a generic x86 build.

There seems to be performance gains with the AMD64 build, so i'm loathed to ditch it. Although i've read there are no increases in performance because of other factors - am I imagining it?

There's no AMD64 version of flash on Linux. Bitch at Macromedia.

There's no AMD64 version of Java on Linux. Bitch at Sun. However, Blackdown JRE might work.

My mistake, I guess Sun are on the ball for once. However that applet really should work. So much for java's portability eh? Contact the vendor and ask them to fix it.

Alternatively run User Mode Linux and have an x86 virtual session.
