What software for teacher workstations for windows 7 use

I am just setting up our windows 7 teacher workstations and wanted to give them a few extra tools/software that will make life a little easier.

 

 

eg snipping tool(first time i have used it today its pretty good)

 

was thinking about a screen recorder

 

or anything that you guys put into your builds

its just print screen with attitude allows you to select an area and the take a snap of it then save to various formats well done microsoft (i skipped vista so it is new to me)

Some kind of timer, like this: XTimer - Timer and Stopwatch Utility with Source Code - CodeProject

A lot of people seemed to find a use for it.

the snipping tool is the one thing i will happily thank MS for they can do some stupid things at times but the snipping tool has saved me hours in putting together my IT cwk and many hours of bordom which used to be spent having to crop whole screen prints for one little dialogue box

I avoid adding extra software - instead I would create a list of 'stock' favourites sending them to websites instead. The less software on each machine the better.

 

For a timer - Countdown

 

Our new build when we roll out Windows 7 will have Smart software, Office, Serif MoviePlus, CS3 suite, VLC and anti-virus on it. That's it. Anything else is extra and staff can request it.

 

That said, they will have access to a self-service software library though, and that will contain a fairly large amount of software for them to choose to use.
