Cache Pilot on CC3

Hi,

 

Anybody on here using CachePilot proxy on a CC3 network here.

 

Having trouble setting up the whitelist for naughty users with AD integration. Any help would be much appreciated

The AD integration is the easy part, its the setup then to use whitelists that i dont understand

Dont you just setup the group to be the exact same name as the OU?

Then link the white and black lists to the group as usual.

 

 

If at all possible id get rid of cachepilot asap, its one of the worst and most overpriced peices of software ive ever used!

 

It has such child like mistakes in it such as only recognising the first 8 charachers in a password.

Redex entries dont always apply

The filter can be fooled with such devious mean as adding /* to teh end of a URL.

"Something" gets full resulting in it refusing to forward traffic and not even let you log in. Reboots dont help. This is a known problem and has been for some time now.

ADs flakey for alot of people.

It relies on their external DNS server and either the connection or their server is flakey.

Kiddie, slow interface

Not to mention its slow as shat at forwarding traffic!

 

 

My first EVER "go of linux" was to build a squid/dansguardian proxy, and even on a machine less than half the spec it far outperformed CP!

 

Im sat behind a smoothwall community firewall/proxy at home now and its uptime is 62days. It was about 4months until i decided to move to a differant kernal to rus QoS. Before that i run Endian and its only down time was when a HD failed. Not once have i had any downtime due to software.

I dont think ive ever seen cachepilot up for more than a month at best!

 

Terrible terrible product and its not cheap either!

 

Oh and did i mention all the mentioned FWproxies ive used are free!!
