Caching and Filtering

Dear all,

 

Can anyone recommend a good caching and filtering system? We currently use RM Smart Cache and it is just awful. I am looking to change to something else that actually works!

 

I have used Smoothwall School Guardian in the past which I liked. However I am not sure if they do caching or just filtering.

 

Any advice would be appreciated.

From what I can see, Smoothwall does do caching.

 

@tom_newton [first name I saw] would be a good person to ask. Of you could make a thread here.

Smoothwall does do caching, but it's very basic - Guardian 2 had a "do not cache" list and that was it, and as far as I can tell this is gone in Guardian 3 (it still caches, but there are no manual controls). We used to have a Cachepilot appliance, which had a very fine degree of control - you could pre-cache sites to a schedule, for instance - but it was retired when we moved to Smoothwall.

This is still available in G3...Its under Web Proxy > Settings > Advanced and is available under Cache Options Mart
