tech_guy Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) We are not alone: Problems with KB 2633880, 2518864, 2572073 @ AskWoody.com http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver/thread/2f0bbb7d-fc28-4c32-bf63-54cf5a6615d2 Edited May 22, 2012 by tech_guy
Michael Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 All these apply to XP/2003 only it appears. KB2518864 and KB2572073 released in 2011 and KB2633880 2012. Silly question, but how come you're only installing these now?
tech_guy Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) That's what I want to know as the machines in question are fully patched. On checking for updates yesterday there were none. I think somebody at Redmond has dropped the ball. Edited May 22, 2012 by tech_guy
tech_guy Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 It's appearing on the Technet forums now: Problems with window updates of KB2518864, KB2633880 and KB2572073
elsiegee40 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) It's a bit of a coincidence that we've all hit this at the same time if they're old fixes? Edited May 22, 2012 by elsiegee40
tech_guy Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Somebody at Redmond clicked the box to send out these three updates again instead of the Like button on Zuckerberg's profile page where he's announced his marriage... 1
tech_guy Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Oi, techy guy at Microsoft, yes you with the doughnuts! Concentrate on what you're doing! Stop looking at pictures of R2D2 naked and sort this updates cock-up out! Thank you. 1
Michael Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 It very much looks like something has gone wrong, but hopefully Microsoft will supersede or remove these updates from deployment. It's also been reported of problems with Excel 2010 with large spreadsheets this month too. Not a good month for Microsoft. Maybe it's their master plan to get you guys off XP Windows 7 is unaffected it seems.
Geoff Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Maybe it's their master plan to get you guys off XP Windows 7 is unaffected it seems. Well it wont work, this laptop runs Linux great.
chrisredfield93 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 hmmm I can only assume that someone lose their job but i be looking forward to a soltuion to this pain
chrisredfield93 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Looks to be fixed now btw. When you say fixed you mean they stop showing or these updates installed and not showed again?
Danp Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Windows Update or Microsoft Update repeatedly offers the same update
tech_guy Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 No, this was Microsoft dropping the ball gain. They've done it before. All our XP boxes and 2003 Servers are back to normal. Surprise surprise.
Michael Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I'm wondering if Microsoft have dropped the ball again. All my WSUS servers have synced the Software Removal Tool November 2011 last night, bearing in mind today is June 10th 2012. You'd think this wouldn't be possible, as each month it's superseded by a newer version!
