WithoutMotive Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Stab in the dark but can anyone find a driver for one of these for XP Pro? Its ridiculously old so I'm giving in shortly and advising buying a new one. Thought I'd try just in case, though.
synaesthesia Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 evil, evil, evil, evil evil evil things. Swore at those when being used with Junior Librarian 3 then I nearly murdered it's manufacturers and the makers of JL when JL.net came out. What a crock! Unfortunately I no longer have the drivers - however if its for junior librarian (or you have access to a school that uses it) they should have the drivers available for download on their site.
WithoutMotive Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Haha! Too right they're evil. It's for Eclipse 2. However, I've now given up and suggested buying a new one which is more recent. Hate, hate, hate them.
witch Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I just got a new disc for Eclipse 2 - it might have the drivers on it?
WithoutMotive Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Thanks, @witch, but I think the librarian is now buying a new reader. To be honest, it's ancient, so a new one will be beneficial.
plexer Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I take it they don't have the original cd or a support agreement then? Ben
pcstru Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Thanks, @witch, but I think the librarian is now buying a new reader. To be honest, it's ancient, so a new one will be beneficial. The digital persona U4500 fingerprint readers don't come with driver discs of their own - they rely on the application to supply drivers. So buying an new one may well NOT solve your problem.
plexer Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I once tried using a newer set of drivers I found on the internet for ours and it totally screwed it up I had to get the original ones from Micro Librarian. Ben

WithoutMotive Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 I take it they don't have the original cd or a support agreement then? Ben Lol. Don't be silly.
witch Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Well, I have always found the microlibrarian support guys really helpful so I am sure they have pointed you in the right direction
lovelldr Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Sorry for dragging up an old thread here, but we are currently using Junior Librarian 3 for our Library Systems. We stopped subscribing to the yearly subscription, as updates weren't that often, and we never needed any support from them! But now, our fingerprint reader seems to be on the blink. I contacted MLS, who just tried to sell me to buy their support contract again, and to buy the reader through them (4500 reader). So, my question is, can I just buy the 4500 reader directly, and it will work? Or, will I have to buy an upgrade to the software for it to work (latest junior lib or junior lib.net???). Can any other reader work? Without Motive, which reader did you opt for in the end? Thanks a lot. David
