localzuk Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Sadly didn't watch - was in tutor period talking about banning mobile phones. I shall be sitting down and watching some footage in awe tonight though! Amazing what they've done in the short time they have and with the relatively tiny budget, compared to NASA. Its kinda the start of an exciting new era - commercial space travel.

I hate that we've all but dropped space as an endeavour; some things should be done just because they're there. I want my long weekend in the Lunar Hilton before I shuffle off this mortal coil, dammit. Get on with it!

In all seriousness, it is very difficult to wrap my head around the incredibly cool stuff we occasionally manage to achieve as a species. That video is happening up there in the sky, right now, orbiting thousands of metres above our heads... and everything is so small... and space so big... and then my brain packs up.

sonofsanta Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 The Dragon launch of two nights ago was incredibly close to landing the Falcon rocket for recovery; SpaceX managed to get a plane in the area to record the touchdown. That it can get this close is incredible - it's like trying to catch a wooden spoon dropped from the second floor on the palm of your hand. They're mad geniuses, the lot of them.
