Sorry - I am new to SIMS, having taken it over from someone who suddenly had to leave. All the exam data and candidate data has been set up - I am just doing the seating plans. I have done a month succesfully, then suddenly I am getting the above error every time I try and save a group of candidates to a setting. I have tried for various exams/rooms/dates - I can select the exam, allocate a room, select candidates (all of whom show no clashes/ no special needs etc) but then when I try and save the candidates I have selected I am getting the above error. Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing it please?

Many thanks

:welcome: - we don't use Exams here, but it sounds odd. Find out who provides your support, either at the LA or direct with SIMS and get them to have a look.

I did this morning and we got it sorted. Basically the pc I was using was set up to use Us format dates, but the sims exam system was set up to use UK format dates. System got totally confused! I reset the pc to use UK dates, rebooted and it all worked! (Just in case anyone else gets the same issue...)

I tend to get errors that stop installation when SIMS installs if it the laptop / PC is not set to UK time/date format.

Unless they have changed that now and it will install regardless :/

Nope, i still think date formats is an issue in general.

Exams is still one of the quite fussy modules too, so during upgrade, that machine may need an admin, or extra rights as extra things need upgrading.

Sorry, how is not having your date\time\region set correctly, a SIMS issue? Or must it be set to UK regardless of your physical location in the real world?

Yes, exactly that! I have to have UK date / time format set regardless of my location. It is SIMS that gives me grief, and won't allow assessment manager to save and certain reports not to run if a user has US regional settings. All our kit comes with US keyboard as standard, and most stuff is USified, so it's a pain, that we have to fix to UK. Luckily most (at least it used to be!) staff are from the UK so prefer it too.

They is always one to has to be difficult ;)

Guess that's the problem with using a UK focused product. I would image they'll "fix it" when they break into another country like India or the USA.
