Anyone fitted a remote central locking kit to a car?

Got an old corsa with central locking but want to add remote to it.

 

Bought a kit off ebay but now wondering where to connect it in???

(Lots of relays/reversible solenoids in the wiring diagram!)

 

Anyone done this - is there a master connection (that rules them all ) that I can simply tap into?

 

(The direct translation from Mandarin 4 page 1in x 2in "manual" isn't a lot of help )

 

So, anyone here done this before?

Best off looking on the corsa fotum. Had a kit fitted to my fiesta when I had it

I brought a remote central locking kit made by a company called 'Hawk for £20. Me and a mate fitted it to my Saxo Furio. On mine it was just a case of splicing into a couple of wires. I found a post on the forum that I use for the saxo that showed me which cables to splice to which. Unfortuantely I couldn't tell you what each of the cables specifically did in terms of the central locking itself. But a few of them obviously went to permanent live, hazards, ground etc.

I have a Haynes manual for one of these as I used to have one. I will have a look and see if I can find a wiring diagram for the central locking. Might give an indication to what coloured wires do what, which might be a good start.

 

Here are some pics that I have taken of the wiring diagram and key out of the Haynes manual for a Corsa B, 1997 -2000. Hope it helps. I will try and find out what wires my Hawk kit corresponded to, as looking at the item you have purchased the wiring might be the same.

Sorry, can't help with the remote but if you are after power windows look no further.

I've got the Haynes manual but I don't want to be guessing where to connect the output from the remote unit to the car solenoids as due to the fact that sometimes ends of wires are positive and sometimes earth then there is a large potential to have something melt down

Hmm. Have you looked at your wiring to see if you already have the factory fit plugs? You may have..Vx are sods for fitting 1 loom to all..heh. Then a trip to the scrapper for the relevant bits, a copy of OPCOM and ebay for the keys may do it.

 

I keep meaning to get round to fitting the total closure mod to the Astra - you can do it from the key in the drivers lock, but it won't fire from the remote control.

I've got central locking just not remote and since the solenoids can been fed with at either end with 12v or 0V, I don't want to just "guess"

 

I feel they'll be just the one point to connect in but I don't know where it is - the last time I had to work out a relay/solenoid/back switch setup (pre-cursor to 7400 ICs ) was on a 30 year 250KW World Service Marconi transmitter about 28 years ago

The wiring harness was behind a side panel in the footwell, one of the scotchlock connectors didn't and I had to reverse the lock/unlock connectors but its in and operational and I now have my daughters off my back

For reliability, if you used Scotchlocks - replace them! Better off with some Lucar piggback spade connectors or even a straight joint. Had to re-do so many SL connections on cars, they really are junk.

I fitted one to a MK3 astra before. ended up buying 2 (very similar) kits. one came with mandarin/engrish instructions and wouldn't work. found a much better (and not much more expensive) kit from someone who did full fitting instructions based on what car you had. very very good, was fitted and working in 10 minutes flat.

 

if i remember right on the vauxhall stuff of that era, under the kick panel in the drivers footwell you should find all the wiring you need to fit this. it just crimps onto the wires already in place, no need to cut into stuff specifically.
