Port allocation? How do you change the settings

Hi all again, feel like a wooss having to ask these simple requests, but I am really grateful!

 

Unbelievably....We have on our server

 

SIMS using port 8080 and CMIS using 8081 eportal worked aok

 

I had to upgrade mis and eportal and now eportal does not work

 

Some suggested that the ports have probably got mixed up owing to the upgrade and that eportal is using in conflict with SIMS.

 

How do I check what ports are allocated and in use?

I assume you're not after netstat or such, For SIMS - It would be DMS - Document Management Server (or Service), also know as DocStorage. You can change it by opening cmd (as administrator) then:

cd c:\program files (x86)\sims\sims .net document server

dmconfig /p{newport}

services.msc

 

then restart the service, then within SIMS .net, go Tools > Setups > Document Management Server and update the port and save - check it works - if it doesn't check the firewall.

More like SIMS killing EPORTAL.

 

Sims should be using port 8080

 

Eportal should be using 8081 but its using 8015 and I dont know how to change it back!

ePortal (for the serving of the pages) will be using port 8080 by default.

To change it, you need to be in c:\facility\eportal\conf\server.xml

If it's running on 8015 that's been changed at some point, it's not standard.

If SIMS is using Tomcat, and you've got ePortal is installed, 8080 won't be your only issue, you'll also need to change 8005 (shutdown port), 8009 (which if using with IIS ISAPI redirect iwll then need referencing in workermap files), 8443 if you're using the API, I think that's it off the top of my head but it's a Sunday so don't hold me to it! If it's still a problem give support a call, but we do recommend you don't introduce other apps to the server for this reason.

Our default mis is eportal......but someone decided that they would like to run SIMS. I was not tasked for the job or involved.

 

the conflict of ports crashed eportal. Support has set up port 8015 for eportal but when a backup was done it changed its port and crashed.

SIMs was installed for a trial on the eportal server....(Nobody officially informed me!).

 

Then they wonder why eportal was not working.

 

 

 

When SIMS was installed it took charge of port 8080............then eportal broke.

 

They then set up eportal to use 8081. and it worked......................

 

 

When I installed an update for eportal (remember I did not know this info) eportal broke again!

 

 

I have since found out how to change the settings using the .XML file that is stored in the eportal config file...

 

 

I know doing a trial run with SIMS on the Facility Server is going to cause problems...But "Them upstairs" dont!
