denon101 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 As above anyone got a MSI? Just thought I would ask here before going through the process of creating one. Thanks
denon101 Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Fantastic, just attempted that. Why did I not think of that....... Well I suppose it is Friday! Ta
SYNACK Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 You can just grab the MSIs out of the %temp% folder while the installer is open as it is an MSI behind the scenes, just packaged in an EXE. Works great.
apearson Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Saw this thread and thought it was the answer to my problems! However, I think it must be referring to version 2 of the software as I can't find an MSI anywhere for version 4. Has anyone managed to package the latest version for CC4?

Likewise - does anyone have one of these around? Thanks
ReadTheNetwork Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I've just created a basic MSI for the current version if you're interested: https://www.expirebox.com/download/c7f1ee8ab1aaa02846d87d330f6d965b.html Not sure how long the link will be active for. Doesn't create a shortcut but i can add this feature in for you if you like. 1

Hey, the link has expired - I'm sorry, I've been off work so only just seen this - if it'll repost that'd be amazing, thank you so much. Really helps us out.
Novalee Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 (edited) @Novalee. I have created a couple of packages for v4.2.6. Both do the file associations and Start Menu shortcut too. Amazing - thank you so much!! We had been on the verge of manually installing this across school just before we broke up for summer, and given we are short staffed, this makes such a difference. ReadTheNetwork Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Apologies I rushed through my response previously. If you want to create your own MSI in the future I find using Wix Edit is pretty easy and straight forward. I've only used it for simple MSIs. https://sourceforge.net/projects/wixedit/files/wixedit/ You need .Net 3.5 installed. It might be worth trying to create Pivot Animator a go. You then can specify your preferences easier. I tend to fix issues with the external editor (for example if it says can't find source I find replace source=" to source="C:\blahblahblah\program" etc.
Arthur Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) Amazing - thank you so much!! Glad I could help. If you want to create your own MSI in the future I find using Wix Edit is pretty easy and straightforward. I've only used it for simple MSIs. My MSI was generated with WiX too. I have attached the files just in case you or @Novalee find it useful. See the included ReadMe.txt for instructions. I didn't use WixEdit but a combination of manually editing the .wxs, heat, msbuild and an XSLT transform. The last three take care of automatically generating a .wxs fragment for all of the source files except for pivot.exe (which is dealt with separately because of the file associations and shortcut).Pivot Animator v4.2.6 (WiX).zip Edited August 23, 2017 by Arthur
pivotanimator Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 Please remove the above attachment as it violates the Pivot Animator terms and conditions. It's also not the latest version. If you would like to deploy Pivot Animator on a school network then please contact me directly from your school or educational authority email address at [email protected] . I'll be more than happy to help you. 2
Arthur Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 (edited) Please remove the above attachment as it violates the Pivot Animator terms and conditions. I have sent a message to the mods about posts #9 and #10. Note. Post #12 only contains a WiX Toolset project. Edited May 24, 2019 by Arthur 1
