jayemm Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 We want to give a small number of staff who use apples in deliver of lessons a macbook to use at work and off site. At work we have magic triangle working and they can authenticate to AD they see their home drive etc. My query is does anyone have a similar setup as I am wondering if there is a way to make the home drive available off network or do we use drop box? Also do they need a local account on the device to enable them to login off site and do we restrict the account etc? Any help appreciated. JayEmm

You just need to set them as mobile accounts - Server Admin 10.6 Help: Setting Up Mobile User Accounts in Active Directory
iSteve Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Moblie Accounts, or portable home directories are the equivalent of offline files in Windows land. When we assign a laptop to a member of staff we also give them admin rights on the local machine, this way they can install their home printer / scanner etc.
