PICNIC Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Is there a way to remove NT4 from the focus menu? We know its not going to be there in a future release and have warned staff that its not supported any more but some still insist on using it. I want to remove it from the focus menu if possible or is the only way to remove permissions from the executable?
matt40k Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I've asked, it's coming, just not yet. Shame really. Best way is to move them to 64bit machines 1
3s-gtech Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I've asked, it's coming, just not yet. Shame really. Best way is to move them to 64bit machines Oh the fun I've had with that. I am universally rolling out 7 x64, so no T4 here on most PCs. "No, it won't work. No, I can't make it work, honestly. There's a 32bit RDP session available if you must use it!" 1
vikpaw Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 That patch is permanent. Why don't you just rename the local NovaT.exe file to NovaT4.exe and then to prevent a system exception drop in an executable of your choice renamed to NovaT.exe I just tested and it seems to work okay, i thought maybe the printing of timetables would be affected from within SIMS, but it must be using the NovaT6 engine for that. For the executable i just used the mystify.scr screensaver (renamed) which then opens in a nice little box. 1
matt40k Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 The patch has been included in the Summer 2012 release of SIMS .net. Nice.
vikpaw Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Well it would be silly to have a link to unsupported software!
CatherineMay Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Hi you can remove T4 through System Manager, manage groups and remove permissions (curriculum, Nova T). If the Group is a template you need to clone first. Hope this helps. 2
Sivadam Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 There is still NT4 functionality that is not yet in either NT6 or SIMS. And yes I have seen the new NT6 funtuionality being delivered in the Summer! Don't worry - I have passed on my observations of what will still be missing!
PICNIC Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Ran the patch, Thanks Vegas, no more Novat4 in focus menu For those really desperate to use it, you can still run it from the novat.exe
