itgeek Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hi I am looking for a password reset tool. I only want them to be able to reset passwords in a specific ou say students? Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks
6Foot2 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 We use Password Control from WiseSoft: Link: Password Control We have a Parent/Child domain but only use it on the Child [student] domain [would work on Staff account if we chose to use it that way]
mac_shinobi Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Not used the below but have seen it suggested on one other thread in relation to password reset only : Reset Student User Password Free Tool for Schools, Business and Education - Burconix Wisesoft one is good but does have options to disable etc , not sure if these can be disabled or if upon clicking on said other options they would get access denied as surely you would only delegate access rights for resetting passwords on student accounts and nothing else 1
jsnetman Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 You can also make a custom mmc console to do this, you can tie it down to one or a few ou's and limit any activity apart from changing passwords.

Churritos Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 We use a freeware tool from netwrix called password manager (www.netwrix.com). It’s a web-based self-service tool that lets users reset forgotten passwords through a question-and-answer portal. It doesn’t cost anything to download if you have less than 50 users.
