I recommend looking at a few third-party options for reporting capabilities. If you’re looking for some good software I recommend NetWrix Active Change Reporter, Quest ChangeAuditor and NetIQ Change Guardian. We use NetWrix, but all three tools will audit AD changes, and send reports telling you who made them.

My organization uses a tool called NetWrix File Server Change Reporter, which audits and reports file server changes and access events. It sends reports on changes and access attempts to files, folders, shares and permissions. My last company used a product called Tripwire File Integrity Manager, which has similar capabilities. Both tools are very good.

We use a freeware tool from netwrix called password manager (www.netwrix.com). It’s a web-based self-service tool that lets users reset forgotten passwords through a question-and-answer portal. It doesn’t cost anything to download if you have less than 50 users.
