Calibri font fails to print?

This started last week but I have no idea what caused it.

Anyone who creates an office document cannot print any text that is in the calibri font!

italic and bold are fine but not plain calibri.

Has anyone else seen this lately?

have had problem where calibri fails to print random letters with office 2010 and samsung printers. Sometimes restarting the printer solved - not always - changing fonts works but never got a proper solution.

Had exactly the same here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/91340-excel-only-printing-bold-text.html never did get to the bottom of it and it all started working again all by itself!

Weird, tried rebooting printer, print server and applying hotfixes to client but still not having it.

 

I'm considering uninstalling calibri from every client at the moment!

We had this problem with a couple of brother printers after we went to Office 2010. After lots of searching the internet I gave up and contacted Brother. This is their fix and it worked on my printers so it may on yours. Just substitute the brother bits for you printer.

 

- Open Control Panel

 

- Open Printers.

 

- Right click on the Brother driver and select printer properties.

 

- Click on the advanced tab and select Print Processor.

 

-Select Winprint on the left hand side if it is not selected already and click OK.

 

-Then please untick the bottom tick box "enable advanced printing features" and click ok.

The problem with the above is that, yes changing the print processor may work but, disabling advanced printing features means turning off lots of things that get used such as booklet printing, 2-1 pages etc. and honestly at the end of the day things like this should have been tested.

 

I've seen this with Word Docs only. Student creates doc with text (calibri) and images (photos and screenshots) and it prints the images only. Remove all of the images and the text prints - change font to something other than calibri and it prints the whole doc fine!

 

We only use HP Printers and have Office 2010 SP1 pretty much everywhere.

 

For now the workaround is to not use Calibri but obviously in most cases this is just going to prove annoying!

 

I will try changing the print processor though but disabling advanced features is just a not an option at the minute.

Is it a PS driver, it could be doing some failed font substitution, switch it off in the driver or try the PCL drivers if this could be the case.

PCL drivers have been my choice but still get the issue.

I had this issue with my Konicas. In the driver there was a choice to use the printers own fonts. I unchecked this and it works fine.

We had this issue a while back - Office 2010, Calibri font, HP printers (multiple models), usually missing out capital letters. All the computers it affected had common factors - Windows XP without supplemental language support installed (those two checkboxes for complex script and East Asian languages in the Regional and Language Options control panel), and it wasn't affecting computers running Windows 7 using the same printers. Turning these language support options on fixed the problem for us.

I agree that you loose some of the functionality when doing this. It was just that we had been in the same situation here and this worked around the issue. You can either use it to help for now until you find a full fix and would be interested on how you did it. Failing that just setup a script to remove calibri font or tell users to not use it.
