Great video from Dan Holme (Microsoft MVP) covering modern Active Directory best practices. Click the TechNet link below to watch the video without downloading it first (it requires Silverlight so I can't embed it here).

Active Directory Best Practices: Ten Years Later

Ten years after Active Directory's release, a lot has been learned. Unfortunately, many organizations rolled out Active Directory early on and never had the time or resources to revisit what *really* needs to be done to secure and manage the enterprise directory service. Dan Holme, who has led Active Directory designs and redesigns for Fortune-caliber clients, shares the best practices that you may have missed in this Active Directory design and management "rapid fire" session. What has worked and what has failed in the "real world," and why, and what can you learn from those lessons?

Worth watching.. I didn't learn anything but if I did a best practices presentation it would be very, very similar.. perhaps I should be a consultant for fortune 500s.. ;)

The only things in there I do differently are: a) I ignore taskpads because I add things to the standard ADUC context menus i.e. right-click a computer and it's got stuff like psexec command prompts, b) I make pass phrase *based* passwords i.e. the're based on a phrase but are more inscrutable than concatenated dictionary words.
