Should I be using Trixbox or should I be looking at building my own asterisk solution based on something light, like debian/ubuntu server?

The reason I ask is that Trixbox seems to install an awful lot of stuff that is unnecessary, such as Cups and drivers for many different bits of hardware that I don't use and will never use.

However, Trixbox is relatively stable and has a good community behind it.

What do people here think?

If Trixbox does what you want, great. Use it.

If you find you need some tool or want to do something the Trixbox authors didn't consider. Build your own custom box.

My main fear is stability. I don't want things going down due to kernel modules running that shouldn't be and the like. I need a system that is near enough perfect (I know that is impossible).
