We have tickets to Kendal Calling this year. We usually do the Wickerman Festival in Scotland but due to their late announcement of acts decided to try somewhere else, so Kendal Calling, a mere 40 mins up the road won. And it is also over 3 nights (Fri-Sat-Sun)

Whilst not a 'major' festival it still has (in no particular order):

Maximo Park

Dizzee Rascal (I think it will be my turn to look after the kids in the tent that night)

James

Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip

Feeder (Always wanted to see them)

Little Roy

Shed Seven

Dodgy

Inspiral Carpets

Benga

ShyFX

Andy C

Vintage Trouble

Twisted Wheel

Various Cruelties

To Kill a King

Ms Dynamite

So which ones are you all off too this year (if any)?

3. Lattitude

4 Cambridge Folk

5. Fairports Cropedy Convention

6. V Festival (chelmsford)

7. Reading

8. Hard Rock Calling (hyde park)

9. Wireless Festival

10 Possibly Madonna at Hyde park

Plus a few others!

Just V Festival in Stafford for me this year at this point, did quite fancy kendal calling but they'd sold out of Campervan tickets by the time I got round to looking at tickets.

If you need to do a bit of picking and choosing on your acts, then I can't recommend Maximo Park highly enough. One of my favourite bands, I think I've seen them live 14/15 times and each time they've been amazing (we won't mention Paul Smith's solo career though......).

Normally do Sunrise festival but they have moved the date this year to the summer solstice as Glastonbury is not on this year. Normally Sunrise is during the June half-term but as its dates moved I cant go.

I'm off to the Camden Crawl in a few weeks, although it's not really a festival per se, it sounds fun, loads of bands and you can go home to your own bed each night! (We live just up the road)

After that it is Field Day on 2nd June and Lovebox for a day on 15th (going mostly because of Crystal Castles & Magnetic Man), and then Latitude in July, which seemed to be the closest thing I could find to Glastonbury - that blew my mind last year and raised the bar on what I expect from a festival

Sounds like we've all got some good summer festivals to go to :D I'm going to Benicasim and I'm driving there (taking a shortcut from portsmouth to santander by ferry), I'm really giddy for it!

Kendal Calling for me. Dos_box you won't be disappointed.

Nice and small so small queues for food, toilets, beer, etc.

Camp site within walking distance of the stages, as in you can actually walk over to see a band you want to see then walk back after.

You can actually see the bands. Main stage has a hill so even if you are at the back you have a good view, plus laid down chilling on the hill in the sun is great.

Most of the few chavs stay in the dance tent but tbh theres no trouble anyway.

Everything is relatively cheap.

You can pop off site without any trouble and go get a well earned Sunday dinner at the pubs in Shap/Penriff.

Beautiful venue.

Not enough people to churn the ground up.

Can't go wrong.

Only problem was last year they were quite picky about how much beer you were bringing in, good in a way but they didn't really take into account the fact you can drink a fair bit of beer in 4 days and nights.

If you haven't already I'd recommend getting the Thursday ticket as you avoid the big queues for getting in on the Friday and get prime camping spots.

There are a few bands @ Kendall Calling I wouldn't mind seeing, and plus I've got family there so I'd have somewhere to stay. Green Man was also mentioned to me which also looks good, but alas, I have no one to go with and I'm replacing our domain controllers and re-imaging the whole site this summer. :-(

Next weekend I'm off to K:Fest .. a House Party Festival set in some lovely rural surrounds .. Great laugh, intimate numbers, special invite only .. (that's not to be confused with the touring death metal music festival though! lol)
